Dan Weisberg, Heart House Austin

Dan Weisberg |
Dan comes to Heart House as a student from the University of Texas, as an economics major. He is graduating in December 2005 and plans to apply to graduate schools and law schools around Texas. He has worked with kids all of his life, and enjoys giving back to society.
Starting as a Summer Camp counselor in Colorado, in 2002, he learned effective strategies for educating children and relating to them. Dan jumped right into volunteering and tutoring at Heart House. Dan’s mother is a teacher for at-risk youth in Dallas, and he learned a great deal about kids through her commitment to the overall academic advancement of urban youth.
Dan ran in the Shoes for Austin 5K on September 10, 2005 as a representative of Heart House and has shown such dedication to the volunteer program, giving at least four hours a week to the kids.
Dan enjoys mountain biking and cooking in his spare time and believes that cooperative housing is the way to go. He believes that through his volunteer work, he learns from the children and hopes that he can give back, even a fraction of what he’s learned from them.
