Executive Director
THE ORGANIZATION
Heart House is a tightly woven
family of dynamic staff, caring volunteers,
community collaborators, and beloved children
and families. In our unique, student-centered
neighborhood clubhouses, our exceptional
out-of-school and summer time programs provide
academic support, encourage self-discovery and
critical thinking skills, and help students feel
safe, valued and enthusiastic about learning.
THE POSITION
The executive director of Heart
House Austin is the chief executive officer and
representative of the organization in Austin,
Texas. The executive director has sustaining and
growing Heart House Austin as his/her principal
assignment, which includes ensuring that funds
required to sustain and grow are on hand.
Additional duties and responsibilities include
visioning and strategic planning, child
advocacy, public relations and community
engagement, and administrative management of the
office and staff of Heart House Austin. The
executive director serves as the liaison between
Heart House’s senior management team and the
Heart House Austin Board of Directors. The
executive director operates under limited
supervision and is hired by and reports to the
Heart House Austin Board and the CEO of Heart
House Texas.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-
Bachelor’s Degree (graduate
coursework and/or Certified Fundraising
Executive designation preferred)
-
Five years of experience
managing a diversified fundraising program
-
Seven years
supervisory/personnel management experience
-
Five years management and
budgeting experience for a nonprofit agency
-
Two years public relations,
communications or marketing experience
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Demonstrated understanding of
the principles and practices of fund
development

Demonstrated understanding of
the operations of nonprofit organizations
-
Demonstrated ability to
represent an organization to multiple
constituencies
-
Demonstrated experience
working with Boards, volunteers and civic
and business leaders in a collaborative
manner

Demonstrated ability to work
with people at all levels of an organization
across a diverse range of educational and
social backgrounds

Experience working in/with
youth development agencies
-
Experience with Microsoft
Office Suite and general office machinery
and communication equipment

Experience working with
Internet and web-based grant and donor
databases

Project management skills and
experiences
-
Knowledge and understanding
of the cultural, political, business and
philanthropic history of Travis County and
the Austin metro area, or the capacity to
quickly familiarize or acquire this
knowledge
